My MacBook Air has not accepted the latest update of High Sierra -- I have tried to load the program numerous times, but for some reason it will not load. Due to illness, I cannot make it into the Apple Store though I live nearby. What can I do?

Perform a Time Machine Backup is very useful and can be used to Revert to Previous Working macOS. . Once that is completed restart the computer in Safe Mode - Immediately at restart hold the Shift key until the Apple Logo is presented then release. Now, run the Installer located in Download folder on the Dock

Thank you for the info -- unfortunately, I'm pretty much a Luddite, and most of your information is Greek to me! Wish I could get my laptop in to the Apple Store, but that's difficult right now. Perhaps I can get a friend to work this for me. Thanks, again!
