Esim phone number not working with facetime anymore.

I have dual sim set up with a physical simcard for one country and an esim for another country. I use the esim number as my primary number, so for Whatsapp, facetime, iMessage etc.

A couple of days ago i noticed an error message which stated that my esim number is registered to my apple id but not linked to my phone and that i can use the number on FaceTime and iMessage until it expires. I can however still make phonecalls with this number and it works fine with everything else.

I want to keep this number as my imessage and facetime number and it worked fine a couple months ago when i installed the esim.

Hello Papalouie01,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

If we understand your post correctly, the eSIM number on your phone is no longer working with FaceTime. You're receiving a message saying the eSIM number is registered to your Apple ID but not linked to your phone. We'd like to help!

Below is an article for when your eSIM is not working as expected. Follow the steps provided in the article.

If Dual SIM with an eSIM isn't working on your iPhone

Did you recently switch carriers and get a new phone number?

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Take care!

Hey there Papalouie01,

Have you been in contact with your carrier at all? If so, what was the outcome of the call? We just want to ensure there is nothing wrong on their end.

When you navigate to Settings > FaceTime, and Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, do you see that eSIM phone number listed under the 'You can be reached by...' section, with a check mark next to the number?

You mentioned you can share the message you received about the phone number. Please do share that with us, too.

Thanks!

Hello barberlives123,

Thanks for the quick response.

No i did not switch carriers i only switched my physical sim card for an esim (keeping the same number) and put in a new physical simcard with another number. The esim is working as expected in every other function like phonecalls and whatsapp, but it seems like facetime and iMessage does not accept an esim, only a 'real' simcard.

I looked at the article you've provided but it doesn't solve my problem unfortunately. I could provide you with the message i got with the phone number blurred out if it helps.
