Hi. When I play a game on my iPhone X I often turn the sound down or off using side buttons. Problem is that that turns my ringer volume down as well so I miss calls. I’ve already set the ringer volume and disabled the buttons in settings, but that doesn’t work. The buttons still work which would be okay if game sound volume was separate from ringer volume. Is there something else to try? Thanks.

When playing a game or watching a video etc, the pressing of the volume buttons should not be changing the ringer volume. When you close the app, thats when you are able to change ringer volume. If the ringer volume is changing along with the game volume, you should restart your iPhone. You can also try going to settings > sounds and haptics > turn off “change with buttons”.
Good idea. Seems like a software issue, they will likely tell you to restore (delete everything) on the iPhone. Make sure to backup your iPhone to a Mac, PC, or iCloud.
Thanks for responding. But I’ve already tried both those suggestions and it’s still happening. I guess I’ll stop by a store to see if someone there can figure it out.
