I'm a former Photoshop owner (back when you didn't have to rent it) and looking at buying Elements since I retired and it is a hobby not my job. I hear reports that Elements 2021 is difficult to install (I have a new-ish iMac desktop, plenty of oomph) and has conflicts with iPhone HEIC format photos. Is this an issue, are there work arounds, and are Apple and Adobe working to resolve it?
Elements is an Adobe product, I'd suggest you would get the best advice by contacting a Elements forum. We are all end users on these forums, Apple does not read or participate. This would mean we have no more idea than you what Apple and Adobe are working on than you.
One thing to look at is perhaps the Photos app may serve your needs, just a thought. As you know Elements and Photoshop go much farther than Photos was ever designed to go but maybe your needs no longer require Adobe apps to do what you want to do to your pictures.
