Photoshop and other apps do not recognise Library in Apple Photos

I recently bought a MacBook Pro M2, migrating from Windows (which I used for many years). I needed a laptop that could handle Photoshop and I already had an iPad and iPhone. I downloaded some photos into Pictures and deleted some of them. I might have corrupted something as I could not find the Library in Apple Photos and created a new Library. This is now clearly visible in Apple Photos and this app does access it. (I can see all photos when I use this app). However, Photoshop does not recognise the Library and neither can I attach a photo from the Library to an email (for instance). I can open the media section in Photoshop, go to Photos, and then it tells me there is no Library found.

But the Library is visible in the Apple Photos app.

Should I wipe the computer clean? (I have backups of the few photos in the Library.

Windows, Windows 6

Have you already enabled the library as your System Photos Library? In Photos for Mac open the Photos > Settings and click the "General" tab. Click the button "Use as System Photos Library" if it is not yet dimmed.

Then restart Photo Shop and try again to access the Photos from Mail or Photoshop.

To be able to see your Photos in other apps, the Photos Library needs to be on a compatible external drive, if it is not in your Pictures folder. Any external drive needs to be prepared as described here: Move your Photos library to save space on your Mac - Apple Support

And the application needs to be fully compatible with Photos. If you are using an older version of Photoshop, it may not be able to access the library.
