Apple TV IV Remote Disconnects MacBook Mirroring

I watch Vimeo films on my TV by connecting my MacBook Pro with Apple TV IV. When I press the pad to pause the video, instead it disconnects the computer from the TV. Once I reconnect, I can then use the pad to pause and move forward or backward. But the first time I use the remote it always disconnects. Am I doing something wrong? (I can't access the Vimeo films through the Apple TV Vimeo app as these are private, password-protected links.) Thanks.

Hey there SlimDortch,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand your Mac disconnects from your Apple TV the first time you use the remote or pause the video. We’ll be happy to help.

This seems like something that restarting both devices could help with. Making sure your devices are up to date as well could also help. Check out the links below for info on doing this:

Restart your iPhone

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Update your Apple TV

Test again after that and see if the issue is resolved. Take care.
