What max duration can an audio message be, when recorded in the messages app?

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities! We understand that you're wondering if there's a limit to how long you can record an audio message for on an iPhone.

There is no limit to audio messages mentioned in Send photo, video, or audio messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support or Send photos, videos, and audio messages on iPhone - Apple Support however, it is possible that there could be one.

If you need to record a message longer than it allows, recording and sending a Voice Memo instead is an option to consider:
