How can I Resync Photos between iCloud and iPhone?

Hi

I need some urgent advice to get me out of serious trouble!

I was trying to fix a problem with sharing photos from my wife's iPhone. I signed out of her iCloud account and back in. Although that fixed the sharing problem, almost all of her photos have been deleted from the phone, only the ones taken in the last few says are there now.

I have logged into her iCloud account via a browser and thankfully the missing 2000+ photos are there and the ones she took most recently have now uploaded and been added to iCloud.

My question is, how can I get the photos on iCloud and the iPhone Photos app to sync up so that all the photos are available again on her phone via the Photos app?

Any advice would be very greatly appreciated.

Hi Mike_G,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

We understand that your wife's photos are missing from iPhone, but shown in iCloud.com. Keep iPhone connected to Wi-Fi and allow the photos to sync to the device. It could take while for the entire library to sync to iPhone if she has a large photo library or a slower internet connection.

You can check the Photos app periodically to see that additional photos are being added. See more details about signing in and setting up iCloud Photos in the support article Set up and use iCloud Photos.

Many thanks for getting back to me.

The photos have indeed started sync'ing. I guess it is our appalling broadband speed that got me in a panic as it took ages for photos to start showing.

Thank heavens for iCloud. I'd have been in very serious doo-doo if they hadn't been backed up.
