Apple One trial with current subscription overlap

We had subscriptions to storage, news and apple to when we signed up for apple one, starting with the one month free trial. When the monthly subscriptions were cancelled and access under those subscriptions ended we assumed that the free trial with continue our access. This has been the case with everything except apple news - we can no longer access any news content. In our investigations we found way down in the fine print that the trial doesn’t wrap in anything you’re subscribed to - which in itself seems pretty silly given people will be cancelling individual subscriptions to take up the all in one package. That it’s in the fine print too is pretty annoying. Ok, whinge over.

Anyway, does anyone know how to resolve this? Our family paid subscription doesn’t kick in for another couple of weeks and we’d like to read the news in the app.
