Quicktime Crashing

I have a 2020 macbook air. Recently, quicktime has stopped working and immediately crashes when I try to open the it. Looking for suggestions for how to troubleshoot what is going on. Restarting my computer and updating to the latest macOS version hasn't made a difference. I get the same error message each time. I will attach a screenshot of the first of it.

 Szazuum,

Thank you for getting back to us and letting us know the results of safe mode. Next thing we would recommend, is to create a new user by following the steps below.

How to create a new account for testing

  •  > System Preferences > User & Groups
  • Click on the Lock in the lower left corner and enter your administrator name & password
  • Click on the (+) at the bottom of the list of users
  • Follow the prompts to setup administrator user

Next

  • Click on   > Log Out
  • Log in as the new user. If asked to sign in with iCloud, skip that part
  • Test the issue again and see if it resolves

Open Quicktime again as the new user. Let us know if this resolves the issue.

Cheers.

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities  Szazuum,

Thank you for contacting us. You have come to the right place and we are happy to assist you. We understand you're having an issue when you open Quicktime. We can understand why you’d reach out for a solution. Does it crash on every video? We would suggest booting up into safe mode and see if it crashes. If it doesn't, it could be something else that is causing it, or the video.

 Szazuum,

Thank you for getting back to us. Yes, that means there is a program installed that is causing QuickTime to crash. First place to look are the applications that open on startup. (System Preferences > Users & Groups > your name > Login Items) Make sure all your software is up to date. You may also need to reinstall MacOS. We have included links to the above procedures.
