what will happen to my iTunes library if I upgrade fro Mojave to BigSur?

Poking around the boards, it just sounds horribly confusing and i might lose all my album covers and might not be able to play CDs or DVDs bought from anyone else except Apple. I have a small music studio and practice space and it sounds like music production deploying any licensed use of commercial material is going to be impossible. Why did this get started? In all the decades of using Macs I have bought maybe 20 one track downloads from the iTunes Store, and the rest is all self-generated content, lesson content and purchased CDs and DVDs. How am I supposed to work with this stuff?

iMac 27″, macOS 10.12

Yeah, the forums tend to have the subset of folks that have had issues and for any of various reasons.

That out of a usually much larger number of folks with a working configuration.

I’ve had no issues with the upgrade from iTunes to the Apple Music app.

That’s the Apple Music app, and not the Apple Music subscription!

Make a complete backup, upgrade as a test, and check your environment.
