Receiving iMessage reactions from private conversations of contacts

For some reason that I have no possible explanation for, I have been receiving notifications of iMessage reactions within a private conversation between two of my contacts. This is not a group chat and I have no connection with these messages between them. I do not receive the messages unless one of them “reacts”, then I receive a notification of the message and it’s reaction. It doesn’t show up within my messages with each of them though, it is only a notification.

Has anyone else experienced this? So bizzare.

Hi CommunityMember417,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're receiving message notifications from a conversation you aren't a part of, correct? If so, we would love to help see if we can get the issue resolved for you.

First, you will want to check on your device, and have the other parties check that no one is signed in under the same Apple ID under Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.

If that isn't the issue, were you part of the conversation before and perhaps muted it? If so, you'll want to go into the Message settings and check that "Notify Me" is disabled.

Other than those two possible things, there wouldn't really be a way that this could happen.

Please let us know how it goes. We're always happy to help.

Cheers!
