Last.FM Apple Music integration

Will we ever get proper scrobbling support in Apple Music where we don't have to scan to update the library every time we want to update scrobbles? I really like being able to keep track of my music stats but Apple makes it very difficult for a company that promises good user experience. Is there even any support for Mac/iTunes scrobbling on macOS? I know that Windows can automatically scrobble from iTunes in the background, but is there a similar feature for Macs?

Apple could probably allow Last.fm scrobblers to link directly to Apple Music with relative ease since other major streaming platforms have it done, eg Spotify and Tidal.
