Mail stopped showing message content on Message Viewer page. only a list of messages

Maybe cursor passed over something that re-organized my Message Viewer. Now only see a full page list of messages. to read a message must click on it and open it. Can't see anyway in View or Messages pull down menus any easy way to see content of messages on Viewer, as i have for about 20 years.

I probably did it but how?

You must be in Column Layout and accidentally dragged the preview splitter so the preview is turned off. Click the View menu in Mail and verify the Column Layout is selected. Then below that there is a Show Side Preview, turn that on. If you go back to the View menu it now offers Show Bottom Preview if that is what you want. You can then drag the preview window splitter to resize the window within Mail. Dragging the bar to the bottom or all the way to the right will turn off the preview window.

If you turn off Column Layout will see the newer default view with email & summary on the left and preview on the right. You can also show Favorites Bar and hide the mailbox sidebar if you wish. You can add the folders you use frequently to the Favorites Bar.
