When I use gmail (web) I want to add an attachment which is stored in my iCloud. I am using my Mac OS Mojave.
When I click to add an attachment, I do not have the option on the left for "iCloud."
Is this even possible or am I asking for too much?

It just looks like you don't have your iCloud as an option in the left sidebar menu.
Go to Finder > preferences > sidebar and enable the folder.
You can always go into iCloud.com and get a sharable link for any file, but that adds some steps.
I just tried my Mac and I can see it and attach files.
Is the file resident/downloaded on your device? You cannot send a link to an iCloud file through the gmail web interface.
I thought this might be it too, but the option is selected.
