My iPhone XR doesn't appear on my Mac

hi i have an iphoneXR and i try to update my phone but it froze so now I'm trying connect it to my mac so i can restore it, I've connected my phone on my mac but it doesn't appear on my mac I've follow the steps by pressing the volume button and side button. could it be because my mac is too old? my mac is a late 2011 model

If your iPhone won't turn on or is frozen

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201412

If you see "Software update is required to connect to your iOS device" on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208831

You do not say what macOS you are running on your 2011 Mac— the maximum is High Sierra 10.13.6

see if there is anything here:
