iPhone 8+ Camera won’t focus unless zoomed in

i have my iphone updated to the latest version, i’ve already tried powering off & on earlier today & wiping my lense, taking off my case, multiple times. i don’t have enough storage to back everything up to do a hard reset. i’ve been having this problem off & sort of on for the past 2-3 weeks. it used to be where it would be blurry no matter what i did, & i’d forget about it for a few hours, & i’d open my phone & it’d be magically working again. but lately the camera will only focus unless zoomed in past 2x, or if the object is nearest to the camera. please help ?

It looks like you may be having issues with your camera not focusing. We realize you have tried some of these steps previously.


If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working


"If the camera isn't working


  1. Remove any case, accessory, or film that might block the camera or that places a magnet near the camera.
  2. Test the camera by trying to take a photo.
  3. If the photo is blurry, clean the front and back camera lenses with a microfiber cloth. If you see dirt or debris inside the lens or if the camera lens appears to be misaligned or blocked, contact Apple Support for help with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  4. Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. 
  5. Test the camera again by taking a photo. If your device has a front and rear camera, check if one or both isn’t working. To switch cameras, tap the rotate button ."
