shows tabs that don't exist

my iPad shows a lot of past tabs that aren't actually open on my phone. i’ve closed them all from my ipad but they reappear again. these are all old tabs, too. Ive tried turning on and off iCloud for safari but nothing changes.

It sounds like the iCloud Tabs won't close and we're happy to help! We also see that you’ve already checked out the Apple Support article Set up and use iCloud Tabs.


If you haven't already done so, follow the steps below, then check to see if the problem is still there after each one: 


  1. Quit and reopen Safari app: Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch, Close an app on your iPad
  2. Restart your iPhone and Restart your iPad
  3. Clear the history and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
  4. Back up: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
