photos app opens at startup

Every time I log in to my Mac, the photos app starts automatically. I have no explanation for this, but i'd like it to stop doing this. As the screen shots below will show:

  • "Open at login" is NOT checked on the app icon
  • Photos is NOT in my Preferences / Users & Groups / Login items list
  • I cannot find any launch daemons in either of the 'library / LaunchAgents' folders. There are a handful of other launch daemons in those folders but nothing related to Photos.

Despite the above, Photos faithfully launches automatically each and every time I log in. Argh. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Photos will launch automatically, if a camera is connected, a card inserted, or any device connected, that may be considered to a camera, like an iPhone or iPad. When Photos is launching automatically, look at the sidebar in Photos, if it is showing a camera device and disable the checkmark "Open Photos for this device".
