Big Sur Compatible Printers

The upgrade to Big Sur IOS has rendered my 2017 Brother laser printer absolete, no software patch will be issued according to Brother, and it doesn't have airprint. Time to updgrade.

After researching printers for two days it seems new 2021 models are hard to find, and all printers made in the last two years are disfunctional in someway; according to the reviews. Hoping an expert can cut through clutter, and recommend a solid all in one (inkjet or laser) that works with the new IOS. Would be much appreciated. Cheers

The link MrHoffman provided mentions AirPrint. My recent experience with printers is that having AirPrint is the #1 best feature to make sure you have in any printer you are getting for your Mac. It will make life so much easier when you need to setup your printer, as you will NOT need any 3rd party print drivers.

After that I tend to lean towards Postscript support, as before AirPrint it was one way to give you independence from 3rd party printer drivers.

Yes, AirPrint support for anyone using Apple equipment, and—for mid- or higher-end requirements—built-Postscript emulation and PDF support, and IPP/IPPS support.

IPP/IPPS is a wired analog to Apple AirPrint (AirPrint itself is based on IPP/IPPS), and IPP/IPPS printing is supported by a variety of operating systems. Folks with Apple equipment will do fine with AirPrint, if you’re going to be using other operating systems with the printer, consider both.

For scanners, TWAIN support.
