IPP/IPPS is a wired analog to Apple AirPrint (AirPrint itself is based on IPP/IPPS), and IPP/IPPS printing is supported by a variety of operating systems. Folks with Apple equipment will do fine with AirPrint, if you’re going to be using other operating systems with the printer, consider both.

Before you get a new printer, any information about the exact Brother model in question? There may be a workaround. For example, it has been possible to use a macOS Catalina driver even under macOS Big Sur, at least for some models.
