Gen 5 iPad Pro 12.9, display very dim/blurry

A few days ago my 2-month old iPad Pro’s screen began going very dim & exceedingly blurry with no warning, to the point that you can’t tell it’s on in bright light. Have yet to determine any rhyme or reason... no particular app or program appears to be the issue. Most times I’ll discover it when I first open the pad, but last night I was perusing Safari when it suddenly went dark.

Repeated hard reboots (I estimate 10-20) has eventually corrected the problem thus far, but at present I’m probably up to 30 hard reboots and it’s still unusable. Has anyone else seen this? It’s a loaded machine (cell & WiFi, 2TB SSD, max RAM, etc.) and the iOS is up to date.

Unfortunately I came to he same conclusion, just hoped someone might be aware of some magic elixir that’d fix it for good. Further, I suspect the 3.5 hour drive to the nearest Apple Store will only delay the inevitable return for repair/replacement.

I waited 2-months for it after ordering and yes, it was definitely on the expensive side of things, but it’s my attempt at laptop replacement. Really don’t want to send it away, but I fear that’s exactly where I’m headed.

Be that as it may, thank you for taking the time to answer. Your logic follows mine, and I can find no fault in that.

FWIW, this is the “Apple” while rebooting:

You have a new iPad Pro 12.9in (2 Months old) and you have spent a good amount of money on it. You are experiencing a display issue. You have conducted some basic troubleshooting and have been unsuccessful resolving the issue.

You can Reset the iPad as New and then Restore it from backup to see whether that resolves the issue.

My recommendation is that you take advantage of the Apple 1YR Limited Warranty and get your iPad Pro examined at the Apple Store or at an Authorized Service Center and get the issue resolved after the diagnosis.

4 days after shipping it to Apple I received an e-mail saying my replacement iPad was en route. Said it should arrive in 2 business days, 5 business days if the original iPad has a personalized engraving (it did).

The new iPad arrived two days later sans engraving. After having the original die in less than 2 months, I’ll keep this one as long as it continues to work, engraved or not.

Thank you again for your time & assistance.

Thanks for posting the screenshot. If that is supposed the represent the boot screen Apple Logo then, as you know, there is something really wrong with the device.

One other option to contact ➔ Apple Support and save the 3.5 hour drive is to and have them send out a shipping kit that you can use to send in your iPad Pro for diagnosis and repairs. My thought process here is that you will drive 3.5 hours, and back, for the same result (possibly) and by contacting Apple Support, you will save that amount of time.
