Text message Alert Volume too low

Hi we just bought a new iPhone 12 mini for my 78 yr old Mum thinking it would be better and more reliable than her iPhone 6.

however the alert volume for messages is much lower than the phone ring volume and than the old iPhone 6.

We have adjusted the system setting volume to maximum and chosen the loudest ring tone but it is still much softer volume than the phone ring volume.

Surely Apple would not put out a product where the message volume (which is used more than calls) is lower than the call alert volume. We will have to take it back if so.

Has anyone else had this problem?
