Apple tv won’t wake up

Does anyone have a fix for an apple tv that doesn’t wake up? The light on the box comes on but nothing else. I’ve been having to unplug and replug the power cable to reboot. The problem started a few months ago. Had no issues for two years before that so I assume an update is to blame. I’ve found numerous other users reporting the same problem on here but no solutions or input from Apple.

What is your model Apple TV? Identify your Apple TV model - Apple Support

  • If the status light is glowing continuously, then the Apple TV started up normally. If you still see no image on screen then that would likely be due to the HDMI connection. Try disconnecting the HDMI cable on both ends, then reconnect. Try each of the input selections on the TV.
  • If the status light is flashing continuously, then the Apple TV may need to have its system software restored. Restore your Apple TV - Apple Support
