File could not be relinked Final Cut Pro X 10.5.4

It is absolutely mind-boggling how this has not been resolved with Final Cut Pro X. I've been trying to relink files that are exactly the same.

I zip the files and send them to my assistant editor who then makes selects and sends me back an XML so that I can continue working on it. We are able to do this seamlessly in Premiere Pro, but Final Cut keeps LOVING to somehow find a way to make the files incompatible even though there has been no manipulation to the source media.

Why is Final Cut not matching the files even when I point it to exactly where it is? Why can I not override this? It's absolutely killing me and this has been happening for years now. I'm so close to just dumping Final Cut and going to Adobe because I can't keep spending hours uploading, downloading, pulling my hair out to try and resolve an issue that should be as simple as plug and play.

Does anyone have a resolution? Please God say yes.

yes when i don't zip the files is 9/10 times causes the problem i'm currently having. from what it seems like a workaround that Chris at apple helped me with after a few hours is that there is a timecode issue. a workaround is that you can make a copy of the media master media and right click on it to and "Encode selected video files" it which will basically reset the time code to zero so that it syncs up with the other media if that makes sense. Then from there I can point Final Cut to those files after renaming them a.MP4 extension and it actually sings back up since all the time codes are now at zero again

Hey Tom yeah great question. So that would definitely make sense right? The problem is it seems when I send them the files, they work on the edit with those files and then I try to relink to the original media (which is on my HD), final cut is no longer recognizing the files and considering them to be different or, the dreaded, "incompatible." So here we are miserable.
