Lost spring-loaded Downloads folder

I accidentally dragged the Downloads folder out of the dock because of a "stuck" icon. I dragged it back but now it no longer shows the spring loaded fan effect with the newest file at the bottom. Instead it now opens as a big dialog with all the files in what looks like alphabetical order, making it pretty much impossible to find the one I just downloaded.

I'm running MacOS Big Sur 11.5.1 on a 2020 MacBook Pro.

How do I get it to go back to a spring-loaded fan style popup?

Control-click it and change the options as desired.
