If iphone is used as hot spot, is it still connected to Wifi?

At times, my laptop cannot connect to local wifi but my iPhone does. When I use my iPhone as a hotspot for another device, the wifi symbol disappears. Is it still connected to wifi while serving as a hotspot?

Is there a way of keeping a personal hotspot (via a wifi connection) turned on without it disconnecting? I have a wifi enabled ipad and hotspot from my iphone. After a while this connection will terminate and I have to reconnect, this can be a bit of an issue during a presentation or demo. I am not able to connect hotspot for other devices through iphone11 I am not able to connect hotpot for other devices through my iPhone 11, hotspot was on in my phone but could see the Wi-Fi in other devices..?

No, the hotspot is from your mobile data.
