enter is taking me to a new cell in numbers instead of new paragraph in the same cell

Hello all,

I don't know what happened. This was not happening before.

here is what is happening now.

I am in a cell in numbers, in iworks, I have numbered bullets, in the paragraph I hit return to add a number 2 and instead it takes me to a new cell.
