Disabling track pad on magic keyboard for IPad Pro

The screen for the track pad is too close to the space bar. When I am furiously typing away I often accidentally touch the track pad and the typing cursor goes to wherever the track pad cursor is at that time, and it’s never right where I need it to be, and I have to stop and move the typing cursor back to my work. In another forum someone said the track pad cannot be disabled. I am skeptical of that. Anybody got the same problem/experience and is there any remedy?

iPad Pro, iPadOS 14
