How to find specs and serial number of MacBook after factory reset

I'm trying to dispose of my child's old MacBook but don't have the specs for it. I should have noted that before resetting it. I factory reset it so now if you start, it asks to choose a language. There is no serial number on the bottom case of this model A1278.

A model A1278 would be a 13-inch Aluminum Late 2008 MacBook.

Here are some of the specs for that model:

  • Model Identifier: MacBook5,1
  • Introduced in Oct 2008 and discontinued in June of the following year.
  • Depending on its configuration it could be: MB466LL/A (2.0 GHz), MB467LL/A (2.4 GHz)
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo (P7350, P8600) ("Penryn")
  • Storage: 160, 250, or 320 GB (5400-rpm SATA) or 128 or 256 GB (SSD)
  • Maximum OS: OS X 10.11.6 (15G31)
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
