"Scroll lock" key from external keyboard won't turn on keyboard backlights

So I'm attempting to use my mac as a desktop, with ethernet and hdmi (to an external display) connected to a dongle. I also have my keyboard and mouse connected. My keyboard has this "scroll lock" button which I've always pressed to turn the backlights on the keyboard. Without the backlights, the characters on the buttons are incredibly feint. On mac however, the "scroll lock" button doesn't light up the keyboard.

It's an old CMSTORM keyboard. I know I can just get another keyboard but if I can continue using this one i'd prefer that. I was thinking there's some keyboard mapping I can use to make this button work as it would on a windows pc?
