deleting google documents on mass from macbook air

I have so many google docs that I need to delete. I obviously want to do this by highlighting and deleting them on mass, but I'm really struggling to do this on my Macbook Air. Whenever I try to "highlight" a file it just opens that one document. Does anyone know how to do the highlighting multiple documents feature from your mac in google docs?
