Been trying through public betas without success. Now with TV OS 15 release candidate(?) still not. HomePod Mini's are on automatic software update. Same room. Tried via Apple TV and Home App, both. Restarted HomePod Minis.....TV speaker is still the only default option.

The minis aren’t supported with this feature. We don’t know what the final official OS 15 release will provide. Wait until Sept 20 when it starts being rolled out. Note: not all devices will receive the updates on the same day.

The feature is now supported with TV OS 15 and the updated HomePod Mini software that should have auto updated. The HomePod firmware was never released as a public beta so only developers had this functionality until (i)OS 15 final release.
I have an Apple TV 4K updated to Version 15 and a pair of HomePod Mini updated to version 15. I have paired the two HomePod Mini devices to act as a stereo. On the Apple TV it appears as a temp device and not as the default device. Could some one help me with setting it us as the default device.
The only other thing I can think of: they also need to be identified as being in the same room. They should then appear as a default audio output option in your Apple TV settings, below ‘TV Speakers’.
Is this feature now supported on OS 15 for both Apple TV and HomePod mini?
Apple TV 4K only, not the ATV HD.
HomePod Minis still don't appear as default speaker option in TV OS 15.
