Is it possible to share the location with your family with a MacBook?

You should find that your MacBook will appear in Find My in the tab marked Devices. The MacBook must be signed into iCloud and Find My selected in System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud (in the left sidebar) > List of apps on this Mac using iCloud.

When the computer is on the internet away from base it will appear in the Devices list. This might be, for example, when it is on a wi-fi network or connected via a phone's personal hotspot.

The "People" list is reserved for iPhones - or as far as I know only iPhones among the iOS devices range.
