Trying to invite wife using the home app, just times out & I become a Guest! All devices on OS 14.8
so far have tried force quitting Home app, deleting & reloading Home app, resetting HomePod mini, disabling VPN, rebooting iPhones & iPads, signing in & out of iCloud. I’m out of ideas. Help
and In iCloud settings, turned on Home?
If you can't share control of a home:
There’s been issues with others sending invites. Some steps to resolve it are rather complicated. One thing I read is a conflict with an Apple ID that uses me.com vs iCloud.com. I use either on mine, so it never matters which I sign in with but there was some talk it preferred iCloud.com.
Try removing the invitee completely, do the signing out thing on both, restart both phones, sign back in and try it again.

Thanks to David on the Helpdesk in Cork. He gave me a profile to download on both our iPads and then had me reboot both iPads. All now working.

We both have latest OS (14.8) on our iPhones & iPads, both signed into our respective iCloud accounts & both on the same wi-fi
Yes they were turned on in both iCloud settings
When you say you become a guest, does your wife have her own Apple ID?
Yes we both have our own ID and family sharing is set from my ID
