Inaccurate claim RE: Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) Cable

This is in regards to article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208368

I tried using this cable and could not do a data transfer. My computer could not recognize the old computer (which was in Target Disk mode). I tried multiple ports. I restarted both computers multiple times. I tried looking in Apple Logo -> About My Mac -> System Report to see if it showed up under USB/SATA/Thunderbolt devices...

Nothing worked until I switched to a non-Apple USB-C to USB-C cable.

I can confirm that currently the Apple USB-C charging cable does not work in Target Disk Mode even though the Apple article you reference clearly says it will work as I tried to use it the other day. I don't know if this is a recent failure due to a more recent firmware update since I don't recall if I ever used the charging cable successfully to access another Mac in Target Disk Mode.

Ok hi everyone if there’s something I could just add in here real quick not specifically related to the charge cable but worth your while to know nonetheless. One time not only did I use USBC to USBC little black cables that come with the 500GB, 1TB, or 2TB USBC LaCie Mobile SSD that are sold at the Apple Store and all of you own too many of. The cables have a little USB official logo that looks like a pitchfork and it had a tiny little number 10 next to it. I forgot what each of those mean but I think that’s like USB 3.1 or something. Moving on, I not only connected my MacBook Air to my 27” intel iMac via Targeted Disk Mode but I daisy chained in a second LaCie Mobile 1TB USBC SSD to the one remaining USBC port on my MacBook Air. It worked but you had to work fast because power was not being delivered and none ports left over after one was used to go to the iMac and the only other remaining port going to the LaCie Mobile USBC SSD. The cables got hot and were starting to frighten me somewhat I mean you would understand if you met me I’m like the smartest person you ever saw that didn’t have a clue what they were doing. I have a pro cable now the black one and freaking love it sometimes I’ll walk over to my neighbor’s apartments with it slung around my neck or perhaps wear it low around the shoulders like a shall. Really that cable is fun to just handle when you’re watching TV or whatever if you need something to play with or mess with when you’re just enjoying your leisure time.
