Apple USB-C to USB adapter is not fitting in some of my USB devices? Did I buy the wrong kind?

I bought online from the Apple store, USB-C to USB.

Until now I was using a ONN USB-C to USB adapter from Walmart, to connect a Logitech keyboard/mouse dongle, and with my old Wacom tablet Pen and Touch...

But then I received the Apple brand cable and I tried to plug things, and nothing want to fit in.

I was gonna try to force in, but I left it alone.

So is what's the difference between the Apple cable and the Onn brand?

And what type of external drives like the Sabrent Rocket Nano would fit with the Apple cable?

Thanks.
