Magic Keyboard battery level not showing on Macbook Pro with Catalina ...

So I got a brand new Magic Keyboard to use with my MacBookPro (16inch-2019) running Catalina 10.15.7. I am able to connect the keyboard to the laptop and use it. However, two things are not working

* The battery level indicator does not show

* I am not able to use the volume up/down keys ( on the F11/F12 )

So far I have tried unpairing/pairing the keyboard, doing a factory reset to the keyboard, reseting the bluetooth module on the lap, but it does not fix the problem.

I do not see any thing in my system preferences to display the battery level

Would love some help on this ..

Thanks

SD

Hello sd_rr,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities about your Magic Keyboard battery level. We're happy to help.

Please first check your settings: System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard tab. There is a checkbox “Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard functions” is not checked.

If it was checked, uncheck it and restart your Mac.

Also check that you are updated to the most recent macOS version: Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

Thanks.
