My iphone is showing connected to USB in Finder but not showing up in Itunes (Music). Both Macbook Air and Iphone updated to most recent software updates. Iphone had shown up prior ro updates.

If you are using Catalina or Big Sur, the connected device will show up in Finder, not in Music (iTunes). You can proceed to sync in the usual way. See information in here:
