Resetting NVRAM will not speed up the mac, read what it does here.
Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac – Apple Support (UK)
If the mac is slowing up it could be down to a failing hard drive
or running out of free space, too many apps open using up the
RAM.
The solution would be to find out why this persons mac is slowing down.
Im doing fine, Thank you for asking and for the fast reply. I already know the correct procedure, also done the nvram reset on many iMac computers and it was successful. Just this one iMac Retina 5k 27inch 2019, instead of successful nvram reset what I see when I press Option-Command-P-R is a prohibited sign (a circle with a slant slash in the middle).
Thank you for the support. I will try it later if our supervisor is not busy. It's his computer I am trying to fix. Are we trying to reset the SMC? Also is there any other possible fix if it wont fix the problem?
The NVRAM reset is an optional procedure that’s secondary to the problem you’re trying to resolve and may or may not work to solve it. If it’s not working, it might be due to failing RAM which points to a hardware failure.
Skip it for now and proceed with normal boot. What’s the original issue? Let’s focus on that.
How are you doing it? See https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063 for the correct procedure.
Physically disconnect from power for 10 minutes and try.
Hello, did try to disconnect the iMac computer from power for 10 minutes, did not resolve the issue. Please help.
Sorry for the late reply. It boots normally, the user can use the computer without any problem. The thing is he sometimes want to do the NVRAM reset if he's computer acts slower.
The NVRAM procedure isn’t recommended for slow-downs. However, if you still want it to work, schedule repair https://getsupport.apple.com/. All the best.
