I have upgraded my mac software to high sierra from el capitan. Homescreen display however is still showing el capitan. I check my software version, it is now 10.13.6. (1) What went wrong? Shouldn't it display the High Sierra screen? (2) I checked my update, it shows incompatible update iMovie 10.2.5. How do I instale/upgrade the iMovie then?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

Upgrading your software from El Capitan to High Sierra does not necessarily change the desktop background that is displayed.

You can change the desktop background picture if you wish by right-clicking the desktop and selecting "Change Desktop Background..." OR go to System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver.

To update iMovie, launch the App Store app and select Updates from the list on the left.

You may have to log in to App Store with you Apple ID (click Store menu > Sign In) and look for previously Purchased apps.

TQ Johnson. I managed to chg my home screen to High Sierra. As to the iMovie, it says d current version requires a macOS 10.15.6 or later but u can download the last compatible version. My current macOS is 10.13.6 & iMovie version is 10.1.6. Wld the last compatible version be an update (newer) of wat I m having now?

I don't know what the last compatible version of iMovie would be.

But it's a good bet that the iMovie version for High Sierra will be a newer version than what you were using with El Capitan.

You can revisit that App Store page again and see if it mentions what version would be available for you to download.
