I have a IPad fifth gen model A1822 and old iPad Air 1 model A1474

Do the batteries interchange on these two? I ordered one for the older model. I was trying to open the case and broke my screen. I don’t want to put any more money on a seven year old iPad. I started to return the battery, but then thought it may fit the newer one.

All I asked was “are the batteries interchangeable?” That is the only question I asked. I never said I was going to attempt to repair the newer iPad, did I? I was not going to attempt it again. I could find someone else to repair it and was going to keep the battery if it would fit. By the way, I did not “destroy” my Air. I broke one corner of the screen (a seven year old model), so I stopped trying. I can do what I want with it. It didn’t hurt the operation, just cosmetics. Why should I pay $100 for a battery when I could find a used complete iPad for that price? So does anyone have an answer to my question or do you want to continue with the attacks?

I agree with the above comment.

You destroyed one iPad because you didn't want to pay for some better qualified, third party electronics repair service to do this for you.

Do you really want to tempt fate, again, and perhaps destroy another iPad trying to get the device open to replace a battery you may have NO idea how to actually replace?

FYi,

When working on these mobile devices, you need specialised electronics tools to not only to open the inside of these devices, but to actually remove items to get at the battery power source.

Much of the intenal arrangement of an iPad is glued/taped in, and shielded with special shielding tape, you may need specialised tools to remove some internal hardware to be able to get free access to the battery.

You have no clue what you need to do to get that battery installed into that iPad.

Return this battery and get your money back and forget attempting another DIY battery replacement in your last working iPad.

You destroyed one iPad not knowing what you are doing. Forget trying this, again.

If your 2017 5th gen iPad needs a new battery, if your iPad is still in like new condition and undamaged, you need to search online for your nearest, “local” Apple store location and call contact phone numbers and call to make an appointment to have your Apple iPad diagnosed and options presented you.

If Apple employees determine that your 5th gen iPad is read for a new battery, an exact replacement device, in lieu of an actual battery repair/replacement will cost you $99 U.S.D.,plus tax.

No destroyed iPad!
