I am trying to reset the Audio Device settings for the Built-In Microphone and Built-In Output on my iMac running Catalina.
If there is not a way to reset them to their defaults could I please ask someone who has not been messing with their Audio Devices to share their settings? I need the Channels, Format, Bit-Depth and Rate for both.

This info comes from a MacBook Pro 2012 running Catalina 10.15.7:
Go to Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup app.
Click Window > Show Audio Devices.
Thank you, these are really useful links. I've been through them and learnt a lot but I have not yet found the actual default settings I would have should I install macOS onto a new disk.
I am not really sure if it matters which settings I use.

If you are installing the macOS, the audio settings should go to default for each device.

So if I have changed the settings for the Input and Output devices how do I know what they were for a brand new install and how do I set them back?
