Clear notifications from banner in iOS 15

I downloaded the public release of iOS 15 today. I noticed that when a banner notification comes up and I tap or swipe down to bring up the full notification that I no longer have the x in the upper right to clear it. I had this fine in iOS 14. Any one know where this went? I can swipe down again and it is gone from the screen but is still on the list of notifications.

Yes I don't know why they changed this thing. They completely destroyed the fluid experience for me. I mean who would want to jump through all the hoops to clear a bunch of notifications? This is just plain bad on their engineer's part.

I had a chat with Apple Support they said it is expected behavior of the new iOS 15 which is very upsetting. But a glimmer of hope came when they said there's a way to contact their engineering team from this following link, so I dropped them a message regarding this. And I would encourage you and others to do the same. Let them know https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone/

That is a great question on how to report to them. I tried using the Apple Support app and the person on the chat just wanted to argue that I must be using a beta version. I just kept getting told that iOS 14.8 was the highest office version. This was after 2PM Pacific time on 9/20 and iOS 15 was released at 10AM Pacific time. Seems support did not get the message of the official release.

All banner notifications. It’s incredibly annoying. I reverted back to iOS 14, and frankly I’m considering Android. iOS notifications are horrible, and darn it the control center is useless without the option to turn WiFi and Bluetooth OFF. I’m just over it. I hope they at least fix the banner notifications, I’d like to update to 15.

Go to Notifications in Settings. A list of your apps appears at the bottom of the screen. Click on an app that uses Notifications.

Uncheck the option to group notifications. Now your notices will appear separated in Notification Center and you can delete them as you please with a left swipe. In a way this is better because you can access any notification from the app, not just the top one. But I don't know why 15.1 installed with the grouping option active. Do the above for each app that uses Notifications.

I got this from a great phone support guy named Matt. He wasn't aware of the issue but did some great detective work as we talked. Thanks, Matt!!

This is helpful information, but it doesn't solve the problem of being able to clear a notification from the "detailed" view that you get when you long-press a notification (sorry if that's not the correct terminology for it), which WAS present in iOS 14. For instance, my Kuna camera app pops up a notification to tell me it recorded a new video, if I long-press the notification, it expands and shows the video embedded in the notification. Now I have to go back from that view, and then manually clear the notification, whereas before I could just tap the "X" in the upper-right in that more detailed notification view to clear it.

Yeah, they need to revert this. When I get notifications for my Nest cameras, I used to be able to preview the short clip in each individual notification of the group, then tap the 'x' after I reviewed it. Now, I can only see the most recent one. Have to open the app and scroll manually thru the feed because when you dismiss one, you dismiss them all now. Extremely annoying when I'm checking my notifications in the morning and I'm trying to see all of the stuff my security cameras picked up overnight.
