I cannot update my iPhone 12 Pro to iOS 14.8. Update does not download and errors out. Root cause of error is not in error message.
I have followed the procedure on this site. I have power to my iPhone. I have a stable WiFi connection. I have 80% of storage available on my iPhone
Any further luck with the long-form tip that I linked? Usually if everything else is normal there’s either not enough space (it needs 6 GB) or there is an old update download blocking it. To check for this go to Settings/General/iPhone Storage and look for an old update file. If you find one delete it.

The error is receive says "Software update failed. An error occurred downloading iOS 14.8.
I had the same message. Neither one will update. I downloaded iOS 15 but it wouldn’t install so I deleted it because it took up 2.91 GB of space and tried iOS 14.8 and that doesn’t work either and it says it only takes up 281 MB. I don’t know. Apple didn’t give us much communication and it’s all very confusing.

Unfortunately, not. The 14.8 errored out again. 15 was available so I tried that one. It got hung up for hours. I deleted the file and am starting over again. Hopefully it will work this time.
Hi. Any update? Is it ok to jump to ios 15 without installing 14.8? Mine got error downloading too
