iMac M1 Touch ID Not working

Hi there!

So, I have a brand new iMac M1, bought it a couple of months ago. Came with Big Sur preinstalled. Touch ID worked just fine in the beginning but it stopped working all together after a few days. What happens is that it doesn't seem to "read" my finger. I tried removing the finger I had registered and register it again but nothing seems to work. The fingerprint symbol reacts when I put my finger down on the sensor but it never seems to save the reading and it kinda start over every time. I obviously tried all my fingers and the same thing happens. I don't get any error messages or anything.

Any help would be highly appreciated...!

Thanks!

iMac 24″, macOS 11.5

Hello Leoslav,

We see your Touch ID isn't responding as expected on your Mac and understand wanting to get this issue resolved. We'd be happy to assist.

For an issue like this, we'd like you to start with the steps listed in If Touch ID isn't working on your Mac. Each step is crucial in trying to resolve the issue. If after each step is taken the issue still persist try starting your Mac in safe mode to see if the issue continues. Doing this step will allow your Mac to run certain checks and prevents software from automatically loading or opening. Here are the steps to do this: How to use safe mode on your Mac

Please note that it will take longer than normal for your computer to load. Also, your screen may flash and change colors. Do not be alarmed this is normal behavior when accessing safe mode.

After starting up in safe mode, reboot normally and test.
