Hide my email set-up in iCloud+

Hi All, I have tried searching the web and haven't come across an answer, so hope some on here might be able to help me?

I have a work email address using my website URL which is hosted/paid for. I didn't use iCloud as I didn't want @iCloud.com or me.com as the email address. With the launch of 'hide my email' on iClooud+, am I right in thinking, I can now transfer this work email address to my iCloud+ account? If so, would anyone know how this is done? I can't seem to find any information on this topic on apples website.

Apologies in advance if I've gotten the wrong end of the stick with 'hide my email'.
