I updated my iPhone 8 to iOD 14.8 two days ago, and overnight my Mail app disappeared. I was able to download the app from iCloud and reactivated my email account under Settings>Mail>Accounts, but am still not able to receive emails in Mail - it says "the user name or password is incorrect." Nothing is incorrect - all I did was reactivate the account that was working when I went to bed last night. Is there a fix for this?!

iPhone 8, iOS 14

Hey Knotes,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! We understand you're unable to receive emails on your iPhone after performing an update and reinstalling the Mail app. We'd like to help.

What you described is certainly not expected to happen. Glad to hear you were able to get the Mail app reinstalled without issue. To confirm, were you able to double-check your email username and password by signing in to the providers website with the same credentials? If so, have you tried the steps in this article too: If you can't receive email on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. This includes following the steps again under "Remove your email account and set it up again'.

Keep us posted. Regards.

Thank you, Sharon! I was able to solve my problem yesterday with help from AppleCare tech support - it turned out that when the Mail app disappeared, it also deactivated all email accounts. When I went into the Mail settings and reactivated my email account, I mistakenly activated an older email account (one I had used on my phone prior to switching to an Exchange email). Once the correct email account was activated, everything was fixed. I deleted the old account, to avoid mistaken it as current in the future. Thanks, again!
