iOS 15 Messages Notifications Not Working

I now have a specific advisor at Apple. We reset the phone to factory default, and that fixed the issue for a little while. I was actually getting my email notifications. Now, it’s back to the same issue. I only get my email and notifications when I check manually.

I have only had the phone for a few months. This is past aggravating.

Has anyone gotten the issue resolved?

I don't have good vibes about getting any results. This has been going on since last Sep with nothing done. My issue just started before Xmas and never had issues before that. It seems that the problem is only with certain phones, otherwise there would be a public uproar about it. Some advice for Apple, when you have lemons make lemonade, not Iphones.

I just switched back to iPhone and I am having the same issues. Phone unlocked and in my hand, I get notifications, however if locked I only get a vibration on my Apple Watch. Want to follow this and hope they fix this soon.

I have gone through turn on, turn off, restart iPhone, etc... like the rest of you in this thread. Not happy right now with my EXPENSIVE purchase.

I am having the problem on my iPad as well as the iPhone. Is anyone else having IPad message notification problem as well? IPone 12 iOS 15.2.1, iPad Pro 10.5 inch with IOS 15.2.1 I heard that some people think this only happens on some IPones and it is a specific IPone itself problem, not the IOS. Any thoughts on this???

Yes, it happens in iPad, too. For me, it happens on both iPhone (11 Pro) and iPad (11inch Pro 3) at random. Both are running the latest versions of their respective OSs. The fact that notifications work sometimes is no consolation because it means you cannot trust either device. I hope Apple fixes this and soon.

My reset only worked for a few minutes, and then stopped again. It must be a softwear issue, as everyone at Apple tells me that it is an issue that engineering has been working on. Not sure I believe them, as the last update should have had the fix included.

My email notifications are only working when in the app, not on the lockscreen on my 13pro. My husband is getting no notifications for either email or texts on his 10.

Could this possibly be a hardware problem?

I have an appt with an Apple specialist, but don't know what they can do in person.

I had a follow up session with an Apple rep yesterday. Apparently engineering had asked her for some more info from my previous session, so it seems that they are working on it. I suggest that you be patient during the session as it could get frustrating. My first one took almost 2 hours but what choice do we have.

I was not getting email notifications on my iPhone or iPad and all of a sudden they came back. However, I am not getting notifications on my iPhone for iMessage and anything I have tried which is all of the suggestions that I have read of all over the internet have not worked for that. I read that some people are reasoning that it could be a hardware problem but no-one has been able to confirm that.

You will see in many forums where people have met with or talk to on the phone with Apple Specialists but they could not fix the problem or even speculate what may be the problem. So, do not get your hopes up over the Apple Specialist, but I wish you the best of luck as anything can happen and you may just get the one specialist that may be able to fix this ongoing problem.

At least imessage is working. I am still on the phone with the supervisors' supervisor. Checking all the things that were checked before. The email came up once, but with no sound, and didn't do it again. The phone is only 4 months old.

Any chance of them sending a new phone?

My ipad works fine, thank goodness.

Update: downloaded the Google email app, and that works fine.

The Apple mail will only come thru when I physically open it and check the mail.

Maybe a glitch in the Apple email app?

I'm just throwing my hat into the ring on this one. Ever since updating to iOS 15 a few months ago, I am not receiving any sort of audio or haptic notifications in Messages. I have to manually check the Messages app to see if I have received any messages. All of my notification and Focus settings are where they should be.

This only happens with Messages; I receive notifications for all of my other apps.

Two of my friends are also experiencing this issue.

This is definitely an issue/bug with the software. Apple, please get on this! Texting is one of the most basic functions of a mobile phone, and you've managed to mess this up.

I had this problem in about November, but it went away after the next IOS update. Then it came back with the most recent update. Today I finally figured out that if I'm not wearing my watch, notifications work just as they should. Add the watch back to the equation and it fails again. I'm going to try to unpair and repair my watch and see if that helps.

This has been going on for way too long. Not very happy with Apple support at this point.

Update. I went into the apple watch settings on the phone. Notifications/Messages. I had selected Custom Notifications in the past which had worked. Changed it back to "Mirror my iPhone." The notifications are now working correctly (for the time being anyway... we'll see)

Likewise, tried sending texts from another iphone and received notifications from the first few on both my iphone and ipad as per normal. Now I'm back to just getting them intermittently. Guess I have to make a decision whether or not to stay with Apple, considering that this issue started with some folks back in Sep.
