Mouse no longer able to close apps after upgrading to iPad OS 15

Hello there,

With my particular workflow, I use a mouse and keyboard almost exclusively on my iPad Pro (2020). After entering the app switcher, I used to be able to click and drag (flick) the apps upward and close them quite easily. After upgrading to iPad OS 15, they just bounce back down in place and refuse to close. I have occasionally gotten them to close, but it is buggy with no smooth animation and sometimes leaving a gray box behind where the app was.

If I only have one app open when this buggy close method works (not very often), the gray box carries over from the app switcher and appears on the Home Screen for a few seconds before glitching away. Is there a fix for this? I cannot believe something so simple that has worked for so many iterations of iPad OS now would break in this release (and go unnoticed during the multiple betas).

I read you used to be able to use a scroll wheel to wheel the apps up and close them but this literally does nothing. They do not move at all using a scroll wheel (and yes the wheel works while browsing Safari, etc). Please advise! Thank you!!

Hello JacobMills,

We understand that you're having trouble getting your keyboard and mouse to work with your iPad Pro. Are these third-party devices or Apple branded accessories? If third-party, double-check with the manufacturers for any kind of firmware update.

Also, since this began, have you unpaired and reconnected your accessories? Connect a Bluetooth mouse or trackpad to your iPad

Thanks!
