Adding Verizon.net (now AOL) email to Mac Mail

Trying to setup a Verizon.net (now AOL) mail account as a new account on a MacBook Pro running current version of OS X El Capitan. It stopped working correctly (was setup as POP). I attempt to add it as an AOL account but get "unable to verify account name or password". I am entering the username@verizon.net and what I have verified to be a valid password (logged on to aol.com).

I have also tried to add the account manually, but when I use select IMAP it fails.

I am able to setup the account using AOL on both and iPad and iPhone.

MacBook Pro 13″, OS X 10.11

New App Password:

You may need to use a new app password. If you were already using one, then it may have expired (something that typically happens after installations and updates). So, contact your eMail provider to find out how to get an App Password.
